Within the breed there is a requirement for approved hip dysplasia X-rays with results that meet the standards set by animal welfare legislation in order to breed. However, as a breeder, there is a desire to examine more aspects of the breed’s health to follow up on the breeding program. Bod Khyi encourages its puppy buyers to carry out both hip and elbow X-rays for all dogs, as well as eye examinations if the dog is to be used for breeding.

Are the results better at Bod Khyi than at other kennels? It is difficult to say. In Sweden, there is no other kennel with such a high level of follow-up. This means that other kennels may be similar, worse, or better, but it is impossible to know since the extent of X-raying of their offspring is very limited.

The way the results are used is to be able to make well-balanced breeding combinations and to be able to suggest the same to breeders who use a Bod Khyi puppy in their breeding program.

 In Sweden slightly above  50 TMs have started MH (mental description for dogs). Forty-four Swedish-born TMs have a known mental status. Twenty-four of these are bred or owned by kennel Bod Khyi. In addition, a further four Bod Khyi dogs have started MH but discontinued.

1. Bod Khyi Dom Ayla did not want to cooperate and instead played on her own.
2. Bod Khyi Ser Saffran found it unpleasant and showed this early in the description.
3. Bod Khyi Momo Macaron did not want to continue after the visual surprise.
4. Bod Khyi Momo Zuleika did the same as her brother.
